Agadir: A Resilient City on the Move
Agadirthe pearl of the Atlantic, has a history marked by tragedy and resilience. Between its national motto, "Allah, Al Watan, Al Malik" (God, Country, King)and its incredible renaissance after the earthquake of 1960Agadir embodies the spirit of reconstruction and innovation. Today, this dynamic continues through modern initiatives such as Shine N Ride, which reinvents the discovery of Agadir through soft and ecological mobility.

The 1960 Earthquake: A Tragedy to Remember
On February 29, 1960, a devastating earthquake struck Agadir, destroying much of the city in just 15 seconds. With over 12,000 victims and thousands injured, it was one of the deadliest natural disasters in Morocco's history. The districts of Founti, Yachech and the Kasbah were reduced to rubble, and the city had to be rebuilt almost entirely.
Modern Reconstruction
Under the impetus of His Majesty King Mohammed V and his son, His Majesty King Hassan II, Agadir was rebuilt with a modern vision. Rather than restoring the old city, the authorities chose to rebuild it further south, on earthquake-resistant foundations and with an infrastructure adapted to contemporary challenges.
Today, Agadir is a dynamic city that combines tradition and modernity. Its urban development, beaches and pleasant climate make it a favorite destination for travelers in search of sun and adventure.

The Wall of Remembrance: Honoring Memory
Located near the Kasbah, the Wall of Remembrance is a symbolic place paying tribute to the victims of the earthquake. It reminds visitors of the importance of collective memory and the resilience of the Moroccan people in the face of hardship. From up there, the panoramic view over the city and the Atlantic Ocean perfectly illustrates Agadir's rebirth.
Shine N Ride: Explore Agadir differently
As part of this dynamic renewal and modernity, Shine N Ride brings an innovative touch to the discovery of Agadir. Thanks to its electric bikes, it's now possible to explore the city in an ecological and immersive way.
The Shine N Ride route includes passages through the Kasbah and the Wall of Memories, offering visitors a unique perspective on Agadir's history and renaissance. This mode of transport allows visitors to feel the soul of the city while respecting the environment, a commitment in keeping with the spirit of resilience and adaptation that characterizes Agadir.

A City on the Move
Agadir was able to rebuild and reinvent itself after the tragedy of 1960. Today, it continues to evolve thanks to modern initiatives such as Shine N Ride, which enable residents and visitors to explore its past while looking to the future. Between tradition and innovation, Agadir remains a city on the move, driven by its history and looking to a sustainable and promising future.

This was such a fun way to see Agadir city, camels, flamingos and lots of other river birds. The local guide Abder, shared his knowledge and passion for the area, he's super friendly and made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. I got to see much more of the city than I would have walking and the electric bikes are really fun to ride- especially off the road. Good vibes all round!
